Original Press Release:
Announcing New Functionality for Lowrance Fishfinders/Chartplotters
Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced today a software update for its HDS LIVE, HDS Carbon and Elite Ti2 fishfinder/chartplotters. The 20.0 update includes a wealth of powerful new features, including Ghost freshwater trolling motor and WM-4 Weather/Audio Receiver support, registration via mobile app, NMEA 2000® update capability for Mercury® VesselView® Link and Mercury autopilot features.
Unlocking the full potential of Ghost, the new software update allows anglers to use their compatible fishfinders for anchoring, locking heading, controlling speed and navigating via programmed routes. The Ghost foot pedal can also be completely customized with a menu on the display.
The new update also enables compatibility with the new WM-4 Marine Satellite Receiver. With the WM-4 and an active SiriusXM® Marine Satellite Weather or Fish Mapping* subscription, boaters in North America can view weather and fishing data on top of the chart.
The Lowrance app is available for download on a mobile device’s app store (Apple App Store/Google Play). The Lowrance app allows users to register their Lowrance display. Through the Lowrance app, users can get customer support, be notified about software updates and manage their waypoint data.
VesselView Link Is a Mercury black box engine interface that bridges SmartCraft® proprietary data on to the NMEA 2000 network. VesselView Link has traditionally been updated via a SD card, making it difficult to perform an update if it is installed in a hard-to-access location. With this software release, VesselView Link software updates can be run from the display over a NMEA 2000 network. Also, Mercury autopilot features Drifthook, Bowhook and Heading Adjust are now unlocked and no longer require purchase.
“We are very excited to offer Lowrance anglers this enhanced functionality,” said Knut Frostad, CEO, Navico. “We are not only constantly working on adding new features, but also making the features we have faster, more streamlined and easier to use.”
