New 8-port Hardened PoE++ Switch Supports Recently Ratified IEEE 802.3bt Standard and Will Be Demonstrated at ISC East Conference
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of edge connectivity solutions, today announced a new eight-port, fully managed Power-over-Ethernet ++ (PoE++) switch (SISPM1040-582-LRT) designed for connecting and powering internet of things (IoT) devices in harsh or outdoor environments.
Transition Networks will debut the new switch at the International Security Conference & Exposition, known as ISC East in booth 225 November 14-15, 2018 at the Javits Center in New York City.
The switch is one of the first to be introduced that supports the new IEEE 802.3bt standard for PoE++, which was ratified in late September. It is the latest addition to Transition Networks' growing portfolio of PoE, PoE+, and PoE++ products that are designed for IoT applications and is also NEMA TS-2 certified for use in traffic control applications. The hardened switch is ideal for use with IP security cameras, LED lighting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and in thin clients, point of sale (POS) systems, or for digital signage.

The eight-port Hardened PoE++ Switch provides eight 10/100/1000 PoE++ ports with two 100/1000 dual-speed small form-factor pluggable (SFP) slots for fiber-optic backbone connections. It can supply up to 90 Watts per port on four ports or 60 Watts per port on all eight ports simultaneously and, with its wide temperature range of -40°C to +75°C, is certified to operate reliably in outdoor enclosures or harsh environments.
There are several innovative features of the switch which help to improve operational efficiency. The auto power reset (APR) feature allows the switch to automatically monitor and reset an attached powered device when there is no response to the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) being sent to the device, avoiding the need to dispatch a technician for simple power resets. The PoE scheduling capability allows the switch to enable or disable specific ports according to a user-designated schedule, such as during business or non-business hours, to help organizations save on energy and costs. The switch also includes embedded Device Management System (DMS) software that provides the advanced tools necessary for total management of all IP addressable devices. The unique DMS provides security integrators with valuable benefits such as lower overall cost, less downtime, and easier management of the entire PoE network.
