New Series of MicroLED® SMD LEDs from Dialight


Farmingdale, N.J., January 3, 2007 -- Dialight Corporation now offers more than 90 different surface- mount LEDs in 10 different package sizes in a variety of colors and intensities. The company's new 598 series microLED(R) SMD LEDs are suitable for a multitude of visual indications in a wide variety of applications. These chip-style LEDs feature the latest LED technologies in low-profile packages that are compatible with automatic placement equipment and are RoHS- compliant.

Most packages conform to ANSI/VITA 40, the standard for LED color in status indicators. Initial offerings include the 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210 and 1208 right-angle series packages in single colors, as well as bi-color and tri-color 0606, 1210 and 1208 packages.

The 0603 (1.6mm x 0.8mm x 0.7mm), 0805 (2.0mm x 1.25mm x 1.1mm) and 1206 series (3.2mm x 1.4mm x 0.7mm) provide typical luminous intensities of 20 mcd to 300 mcd at 20 ma of current, depending on the color. The 1208 series is rated at 28 mcd to 220 mcd. All are available in red, red-orange, orange, yellow, yellow-green, green and blue. The 0603, 0805 and 1206 series feature a 140-degree viewing angle; the 1208 series has a 160-degree viewing angle.

The new 598 Series complements the company's already extensive line of surface-mount products, including its 597 Series of microLED(R) SMD LEDs, 515 Series Optopipes(R) and industry-standard PRISM(R) Series of 2mm and 3mm right-angle, surface-mount LEDs.

Pricing for the new 598 Series packages, each containing 9 LEDs, begins at $0.042 per unit in quantities of 4,000/reel; delivery of production quantities is six weeks ARO.
