Original Press Release:

DNP3 Protocol Now Embedded Within M.P. Electronics SC2000 Station Controller

The SC2000 Station Controller has a new firmware release, Revision #14. The SC2000 Controller now includes the DNP3 protocol. The protocol is parameter selectable between DNP3 and Modbus TCP/IP, with the only requirement being the Controller is to be ordered with the Ethernet option.

DNP3 Protocol advantages include time stamping of events, report by exception, and datalogging of event data during communication loss. Use of the DNP3 protocol in cellular communications provides savings due to abbreviated data communications. When compared to Modbus, DNP3 also provides a more complete view of event data.

Revision #14 of the SC2000 Station Controller (and Revision # 11 of the SC1000) also contains a change to the Flow Calculator. A new parameter has been added to the Flow Calculator that enables the user to set a period of time for when there will be little to no flow into the station. This new feature improves the flow calculator accuracy in cases where the flow into the station is known to drop to zero or to near zero.
