New Release of CodecSys(TM) Virtualizes Encoding for Cloud Computing

Broadcast International releases CodecSys 2.2 in support of virtual machine computing

SALT LAKE CITY, -- Broadcast International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BCST) ("BI") announced today the release of CodecSys(TM) 2.2, the latest version of its advanced software-based video optimization platform. Expanding on its robust software framework recently introduced in an Intel(TM)-based environment, CodecSys(TM) now boasts the industry's first software-based encoding platform in support of a virtual machine computing environment.

Additional features and highlights include:

-- Extended mobile services with RTSP support and multi-stream output

-- Increased channel and stream density

-- Advancements in multi-codec processing for live broadcasting applications

-- and a host of upgrades to the web-based system management console

As advanced computing environments migrate to a virtualized, hosted cloud of distributed services, it is paramount that video optimization services be distributed and virtualized as well. However, in the traditional encoding industry where legacy system providers can only offer proprietary, hardware-based appliances that are restricted to a single processor, it has been impossible to abstract the encoder to align with a distributed network.

Until now. With a software-only encoding platform, CodecSys 2.2, can be optimized and distributed to align with today's distributed network architecture that leverage multiple processors across multiple servers.

The priority and timing of this release are driven by direct feedback from initial implementations of CodecSys 2.0 which was released earlier this summer. It also demonstrates the extensibility of the CodecSys software platform which enables agile program development and rapid turnaround time to market requests.

"We are excited with this latest release that sets us apart in the industry. We've received tremendous feedback from the many implementations of our initial release and have rolled those requests into this version. With several implementations and pilots underway in the key industries of Media, Telecommunications, Cable, and Live Broadcasting, our platform is being validated by the biggest players in the industry," said Steve Jones, General Manager of the CodecSys Division of Broadcast International
