New Plantronics Wideband Audio Solution Optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007

Plantronics SupraPlus Wideband USB Headset Provides Rich Audio, Hands-Free Communications for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Oct. 16 - Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE:PLT) today announced that the new SupraPlus® Wideband USB professional headset is optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007. SupraPlus Wideband USB provides Office Communicator 2007 users with enhanced wideband audio, reliability and hands-free communications throughout the business day.

Wideband utilizes more than twice the audio bandwidth of conventional telephony to greatly enhance intelligibility. With SupraPlus Wideband USB, professionals using PC-based unified communications (UC) applications for voice over IP (VoIP) get the feeling of true "face-to-face" conversations, resulting in improved business communication and collaboration during audio and video conference calls, and person-to-person calls when initiated through Office Communicator 2007.

"Plantronics is furthering its strategic relationship with Microsoft to develop unified communications solutions that make enterprise communications integrated, life-like and immediate," said Jeffrey Siegel, vice president of Business Development at Plantronics. "Our new wideband solutions are developed specifically to optimize the performance of unified communications environments, helping companies improve collaboration through 'in-person' quality voice fidelity independent of the worker's location."

"Combining Microsoft's unified communications software with Plantronics' SupraPlus Wideband USB offers customers an optimal voice communications experience," said Moz Hussain, director, product management, Unified Communications Group, at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft's relationship with Plantronics provides the enterprise with new levels of business value, helping to create the highest-quality communication and collaboration experiences."

Plantronics SupraPlus Wideband USB also features integration with Office Communicator 2007's call control features. Users can manage calls through the headset without having to engage their PC softphone. The hands-free flexibility provided by the headset enables professionals to accomplish simultaneous tasks that fill the work day, such as typing an instant message (IM) or e-mail, or researching on the Internet, while on a call.

The headset also provides privacy to business users when listening to unified messaging voice mails via e-mail. Other product features include:

o Enhanced noise-canceling microphone for background noise reduction,
o Bendable click-stop microphone boom for optimal voice pick-up,
o In-line user controls and plug-and-play compatibility for added convenience, and
o Comfortable monaural design for all-day wear.
