New Nimsoft Cloud Readiness Assessment Tool Helps Customers Ensure Their Ability to Monitor Next-Generation IT Infrastructure

Support for Cisco UCS, Vblock and Usage Metering Also Facilitates Migration to Cloud Model

CAMPBELL, Calif. -- Nimsoft today delivered a new online diagnostic tool that enables clients to quickly assess their readiness for monitoring cloud environments, and also announced support for Cisco® Unified Computing System (UCS), Cisco's next-generation automated blade-server system infrastructure.

These two announcements--combined with previously announced support for Vblock Infrastructure Packages and usage metering--underscore the differentiated Nimsoft value proposition for organizations seeking to exploit the advantages of cloud computing.

The IT Monitoring Cloud Readiness Self Assessment tool helps IT teams gauge their current cloud monitoring capabilities and challenges, so they can make well-informed decisions about how to optimally manage their planned cloud environments. After taking a brief online survey, users receive a customized report that quantifies their technical readiness, organizational preparedness and IT/business alignment. Based on these results, the tool provides best-practices guidance about how an organization can safeguard the success of its cloud initiatives with effective monitoring.

"Cloud computing offers organizations tremendous business value--but it also requires IT to adopt a whole new approach to management and operations," said Gary Read, Nimsoft CEO. "Nimsoft is helping customers make this transition by providing IT teams with a practical way to quickly gauge how well-equipped they are to monitor the cloud and to determine where they need to address potential technology and process deficits."

Support for Cisco UCS and other Cloud Requirements

Nimsoft has also added comprehensive monitoring support for Cisco UCS to the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS). Cisco UCS is designed for dynamic, scalable and highly virtualized data centers and cloud environments. NMS adapts to the flexibility inherent in Cisco UCS, discovering changes in physical elements (fans, power supplies, servers, etc.) and then applying monitoring through the use of service profiles that automatically configure and deploy the solution. NMS also monitors Cisco UCS components within a single, common framework with other cloud and traditional data center resources, including network, storage, virtualization, web applications and more.

"As customers look to Cisco UCS for its significant economic advantages, they have to meet the new monitoring challenges presented by highly virtualized processing environments," said Chris Chrobocinski, vice president, managed services for MTM, a national provider of innovative IT solutions. "With its support for Cisco UCS integration into our Virtual Desktop Alliance solution, NMS uniquely enables us to help our customers fully realize the benefits of private clouds--providing us with clear competitive advantages and the ability to offer new services that deepen our account penetration."
