New Mixing Technology Offered by Ashland Eases Adhesive and Sealer Application

DUBLIN, Ohio - A new mixing technology for two-part adhesive and sealer applications is now part of the PLIOGRIP® by Valvoline body repair system from Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH). The 18-element SuperQuadro(TM) static mixer from Sulzer Quadro Systems will be introduced with the new larger format 400ml and 600ml PLIOGRIP by Valvoline products for the truck repair market. The new mixer will be introduced into the PLIOGRIP by Valvoline automotive repair line as inventory is replenished, and will start to appear this month.

Ashland Specialty Polymers & Adhesives, a business group of Ashland Performance Materials, a division of Ashland, is the first to introduce the SuperQuadro to the collision repair market. The 18-element Sulzer SuperQuadro mixer is shorter in length than the 24-element Quadro mixer currently used and creates less back-pressure in manual dispense applications. It also features a tapered tip that allows bead size control and its shorter design leaves less waste in the mixer at the end of the job.

The Sulzer Quadro mixing technology was the established industry standard for static mixing applications. The new SuperQuadro technology features a serpentine configuration that forces the two adhesive parts to twist as they pass through the mixer. Ashland conducted extensive side-by-side testing of the two Sulzer mixing technologies on both its polyurethane and epoxy products. The testing validated the SuperQuadro as having improved mixing coupled with the advantage of being shorter.
