New Millennium Steel - Install of New SMS Demag Slitting Line

New Millennium Steel installed a new SMS Demag Ltd. slitting line at its steel processing and distribution center in Salem, Virginia. The line will have a capacity of .209 inches x 62 inches in slitting, processing 60,000 lb and run at a speed of up to 500 feet per minute while processing 11 cuts at maximum gauge.
Its features include a single eccentric type, "injecta-head" half head slitter arrangement with a 7-roll Korflex Leveler Unit for strip shape improvements throughout the gauge range and a quick-change separator tooling system.
Start-up of the new line is slated for early Spring 2007.
SMS Demag Ltd. is the Canadian subsidiary of SMS Demag AG, which forms part of the Metalurgical Plant and Rolling Mill Technology Business Area of the SMS group.
