New HVAC Kits Provide Instruments & Accessories Ideal for Measuring Temperature & Electrical Parameters

Combine Value, Convenience & Portability

New York, NY — Two new HVAC installation and maintenance kits from General Tools & Instruments (General®)—HVAC Meter Kit (KHV57030) and HVAC DMM Kit (KHVP57068)—are ideal for contractors and technicians who routinely measure surface temperature and electrical parameters. Combining powerful instruments with essential and practical accessories in custom padded carrying cases, these kits offer great value, convenience and portability.

The HVAC Meter Kit (KHV57030) includes General’s new Rugged TRMS Multimeter with NCV Detection (DMM570) and new 30:1 Ultra Wide-Range IR Thermometer with K Port (IRT730K). The DMM570 offers 19 functions over 48 ranges. It measures AC/DC voltage and current, resistance, capacitance, frequency and duty cycle, and checks for continuity and diode integrity. It can operate in auto or manual ranging mode and is drop-resistant to a height of 6 ft. (1.8m). Its built-in non-contact voltage (NCV) detector provides a safe way to check whether a line, cable or AC outlet is energized. The instrument also measures temperature (from -58° to 1112°F / -50° to 600°C) via the included K-type stem thermocouple probe. DMM570 readings are displayed on a backlit 3¾-digit (6,600 count) LCD with two digital readouts, as well as a fast-response analog bar graph.

The IRT730K measures surface temperature using one of two methods: non-contact (via an IR thermometer with laser pointer) or contact (via a K-type bead thermocouple probe). The instrument has an outstanding measurement range of -58° to 1400°F (-50° to 760°C) via IRT and -58° to 1112°F (-50° to 600°C) via K port. The IRT730K has a distance-to-spot ratio of 30:1, a laser targeting ring and adjustable emissivity. It stores and recalls up to 100 readings and allows users to designate high and low temperature alarm set points. Readings are displayed on a backlit 5-digit LCD.

The included accessories for the HVAC Meter Kit (KHV57030) are: a pipe wrap thermocouple, a K-type stem thermocouple probe, a K-type bead thermocouple probe, an adaptor for thermocouples with spade lugs, a pair of CAT III 1000V rated test leads with alligator clips, and a magnetic meter hanging strap.

The HVAC DMM Kit (KHVP57068) includes the DMM570 but combines it with General’s Auto Ranging AC/DC TRMS 400 Amp Clamp Meter (DAMP68). The DAMP68 offers 11 functions over 34 ranges. It measures AC/DC voltage and current, resistance, capacitance and frequency, and can check continuity and diode integrity. The DAMP68’s clamp jaw has a 1.48 in. (37.5mm) opening. It can operate in auto or manual ranging mode and has a rugged rubber housing. The DAMP68 also measures temperature from -40° to 752°F (-40° to 400°C) via the included K-type bead thermocouple probe. All readings are displayed on a backlit 3¾-digit (4,000 count) LCD with two digital readouts and a fast-response analog bar graph.

The included accessories for the HVAC DMM Kit (KHVP57068) are: a pipe wrap thermocouple, a K-type stem thermocouple probe, a K-type bead thermocouple probe, an adaptor for thermocouples with spade lugs, a pair of CAT III 1000V rated test leads with alligator clips, a pair of CAT III 600V rated test leads with hard points, and a magnetic meter hanging strap.

See General’s new HVAC Meter Kit (KHV57030) and HVAC DMM Kit (KHVP57068) at Booth 8152 at AHR 2014, January 21-23, 2014 at the Javits Center in New York City.

The kits will be on display and available for order.
