New Home Depot Backyard Fabric Structures to Shelter Super Bowl Attendees this Sunday

Dallas (PRWeb) January 31, 2019 -- FabriTec Structures’ new tensile membrane structures at The Home Depot Backyard of Mercedes Benz Stadium will be having their Super Bowl debut this Sunday as fans tailgate and park on the new mixed-use space before the biggest football game of the year.

FabriTec was contracted to design-build nine inverted cone structures on the tailgating grounds, five canopies along the escalator to the second floor and a long 3,140 square foot canopy with four 13’ X 13’ inverted cone canopies for the Home Depot Sponsor Zone. The sponsorship activation zone is a shaded deck pavilion that will be used to engage tailgaters on event days.

The inverted tailgating canopies sit on the 11-acre green space that will also be used as a community resource and an event venue on non-game days and will host huge crowds of fans as they get rallied up to watch their teams face-off.

“The Home Depot Backyard will be an asset to the city and its residents creating unique opportunities for locals and visitors alike through access, deliberate programming and permanent areas to play and build a sense of community,” Latonda Henderson, director of community activation for Mercedes-Benz Stadium said. “We are so excited to bring this wonderful space to life.”

Construction on what used to be the Georgia Dome site was announced in announced in April 2017 to enhance Atlanta Falcon fan’s and the local community’s experiences “through new and unique experiences” and was completed in September 2018.

The Home Depot Backyard’s design as a recreational facility elevates the tailgating experience with other permanent structures including a sports field, biking and walking paths, a playground, public restrooms, and a pedestrian bridge and ADA accessible ramp. With most other tailgates being held in parking lots, this project represents an innovation in tailgating that is at the core of FabriTec Structures’ values.
