Emerson Unveils New Greenlee® Drill/Tap Bits

New bits are optimized for stainless steel and up to 1/4-inch thick material

ROCKFORD, ILL. (October 15, 2019) – Emerson (NYSE: EMR) introduces the industry’s first line of high-grade bits capable of drilling, tapping and deburring stainless steel in one action from Greenlee Available in standard (6-32 thru 3/8-16) and metric sizes (M3x0.5 thru M10x1.50), the new Greenlee drill/tap bits are made from a high-speed steel and are finished with a high-grade Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating for increased performance and durability.

“Greenlee drill/tap bits were introduced into the electrical trade market years ago,” said Rob Bentley, product manager for Greenlee, Emerson. “We are excited to expand our offering by launching the first and only drill/tap bits optimized for stainless steel and 1/4-inch thick material.”

An innovative split-point tip helps prevent walking and quickly penetrates the material. A stronger bit core decreases the risk of breakage in thicker materials and reduces torque on the end user. While designed for stainless applications, the bits are also rated to drill/tap in mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper, fiberglass and plastic materials up to 1/4-inch (3-gauge) thick.

Greenlee’s new drill/tap kits include a durable case and adapter for quick-change convenience. Professionals interested in the new bits can learn more at Greenlee.com/stainlesssteeldrilltapbits.
