HD Voice Enables VoIP to Surpass Traditional Voice Quality

Polycom phones with HD Voice are made with higher-caliber equipment and patented technology developed to deliver optimal sound quality. NGT's lab results showed calls between HD Voice phones to have the highest-possible quality, and also calls between an HD Voice phone and a common phone (e.g. G.711 or G.729) experienced greater sound clarity than traditional non-IP phone calls. Call quality varied from three to four times the quality of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
