ORLANDO, FLA.-December 2, 2008-A first-of-its-kind service offering for GE Energy, designed to help customers who operate and maintain their own power plants achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency and performance, is being introduced at Power-Gen International 2008.

The new offering, Operations & Maintenance Advisory Services, will assist customers in creating processes and procedures based on GE Energy's extensive operations and maintenance (O&M) experience. It enables customers who want to operate their own power plants the ability to utilize GE Energy's experienced staff to provide on-the-job training and provide advice using GE Energy power generation technology. The program builds on the experience of GE Energy's global O&M services business, one of the world's largest third-party providers of plant O&M services with more than 70 sites worldwide currently under contract.

"This is the first time that GE Energy has had an offering of this type," said Luis Ramirez, vice president of Contractual Services for GE Energy. "Historically, customers have either operated their plants themselves or hired another organization to run the plants for them. With this new offering, customers will be able to operate their own plants, but do so while benefiting from the latest technology and experiences of one of the largest power plant operations and maintenance service providers in the world."

Under the new program, customers will be able to utilize many of the same O&M tools used by GE Energy in power plants around the world today. In addition, GE Energy experts will be available to advise customers on O&M plant performance, offering solutions that could help increase productivity and reduce costly downtime. Work force optimization, robust procedures around administration, operations, maintenance and reporting and managing workflow are some of the areas where customers can benefit from GE Energy's experience.

The Operations & Maintenance Advisory Services offering is derived from ISO 9000-certified processes and procedures that are used to operate and maintain plants as part of GE Energy's full-service O&M contracts. "These processes and procedures have been developed using Six Sigma quality methodology and the fundamental concepts of continuous improvement," said Ramirez. "Our goal is to make our customers the experts and help them achieve increased levels of productivity in their plant operations."
