New Flyer from National Adhesives Features Advanced Technologies for Engineered Wood

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Sept. 8, 2006 -- A new flyer from National Adhesives features innovative adhesive products for wood-to-wood and wood-to-composite materials bonding.

The flyer, entitled BONDMASTER® Adhesives for Engineered Wood Products, presents a wide range of products for the architectural market, including a one-component moisture-curing liquid polyurethane adhesive system, two-component emulsion polymer isocyanate (EPI) adhesives, reactive urethane hot melt adhesives and PVA liquid adhesives.

New technologies from National Adhesives, such as one-component moisture-curing liquid polyurethane adhesive systems, help engineers and manufacturers create innovative wood products for both structural (certified) and non-structural (non-certified) applications. Structural applications include finger jointing, face gluing and edge gluing. Non-structural applications include general assembly, laminating and composites and components.

Ambient moisture and humidity cures these unique polyurethane adhesives, forming a hard, non-brittle, inert and solid bond. These formaldehyde-free and solvent-free adhesives are easily applied, reducing prep time and eliminating sub-standard bonding due to incorrect mixing. A variety of open and curing times enables cost-efficient production processes without heating.

The flyer includes a case history that documents how a Canadian cedar siding, deck and fascia manufacturer improved the speed and quality of its cold-set edge- and face-gluing operation by switching to a National 100% solids polyurethane liquid adhesive.
