Original Press Release:

New AFLAS® FFKM Perfluorinated Elastomer Excels in Harsh Oil Recovery Environments

Exton, Pa., April 18, 2022---AGC Chemicals Americas introduces AFLAS® FFKM PM-3500 perfluorinated elastomer. This material provides exceptional high-temperature, high-pressure performance to equipment parts like O-rings and seals that operate in the most challenging conditions. AGC will feature AFLAS FFKM PM-3500 at the Offshore Technology Conference at booth 916, May 2--5, at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.

AFLAS PM-3500 was specifically developed for applications where high purity is vital to the user’s processes. It achieves Shore A hardness without the need for fillers that could generate particulates. It is also plasma resistant, so it can be used in the etching process of semiconductor manufacturing.

In addition, AGC will feature the following materials at OTC 2022:

AFLAS® 400E or 600X FEPM fluoroelastomer grades are designed for multilayer hose constructions used in high-pressure, high-temperature environments. Because they are resistant to NOx, SOx, engine oils and other aggressive fluids, they enhance the performance of hardworking equipment components in oil and gas recovery applications including durable packers, bladders, gaskets and O-rings.

Fluon+™ Compounds incorporate glass, carbon or mineral fillers for enhanced dimensional stability, abrasion resistance and physical strength to improve the performance of oil recovery equipment components. They are used in demanding applications where the thermal and chemical resistance of a fluoropolymer is required with additional mechanical toughness provided by the reinforcing filler. Common applications include seals, chemical pump casings and downhole wire.

Fluon+™ mPLASTICS compounds are modified with fluoropolymer materials to achieve the desirable properties of engineered plastics with added flexibility. These heat-resistant compounds are ideal for applications such as wireline and cable insulations that better withstand repetitive use in harsh environments, in addition to high-impact applications such as valve seats, compressor plates and poppet valves.
