New ENGUARD(TM) Tub/Shower Gelcoats Offer Fabricators More Options
DUBLIN, Ohio - A series of new gelcoat formulations from Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group of Ashland Performance Materials, a division of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH), allows fabricators to use low spray-pressure and achieve superior application and spray properties. The new formulations are part of the ENGUARD WG-TS series of white gelcoats for tub/shower applications.
Formulated by Ashland Performance Materials scientists, the new ENGUARD WG-TS gelcoats have passed the physical performance requirements for both the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z 124.1-.2, and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) B45.5-94. The products exhibit excellent flow and leveling, superior application and spray properties, and exceptional mold coverage.
Since its introduction in February, fabricators have noted several benefits to using this new gelcoat formulation. The capability to use lower spray-pressure with ENGUARD WG-TS series gelcoat is a top noted benefit. The lower pressures create less overspray, which provides an improved work environment and results in less wear and tear on the spray system. The gelcoat levels and exhibits excellent lay-down qualities after spraying and has been found to be easy to use even in difficult sections such as dam areas. As a result of its easy-to-use qualities, customers also have discovered that this gelcoat tends to cover more parts per drum that other gelcoat products.
Ashland Composite Polymers also markets a full line of AROPOL(TM) resins for the tub/shower industry. The AROPOL resin lines include laminating resins for any process and acrylic back-up resins. The acrylic back-up resins are low-HAP, exhibit exceptional bond strength and can be highly filled.
