Gericke USA Introduces Continuous Manufacturing Modules to Automate Pharmaceutical Production

Integrated Feeding, Weighing, Mixing Boost Efficiency in Oral Solid Dosage Processing

Somerset, NJ: Continuous Manufacturing Modules (CMM) from process equipment manufacturer Gericke, USA, Somerset, NJ (www.gerickegroup.com), integrate feeding, weighing and mixing as a single, continuous step. Developed to increase speed and efficiency in oral solid dosage pharmaceutical manufacturing, the Continuous Manufacturing Modules combine a high precision loss in weight feeder with a continuous mixer and the company's proprietary Process Analytical Technology (PAT) to automatically convert the active drug and up to five excipients into tablets with a homogeneous distribution of ingredients in minutes. Streamlining the process versus batch production, the CMMs cut several hours from the batch process and eliminate the need for large volume mixers and storage tanks, along with their cleaning and space requirements while meeting quality targets and reducing the cost per tablet.

Custom engineered as a turnkey solution, the Continuous Manufacturing Modules are designed to seamlessly integrate with direct compression, dry and wet granulation, and hot melt extrusion processes, and to serve as a self-contained process for product research and development. The versatile tableting systems are also designed with interchangeable feeders to accommodate a wide range of powders and throughput rates and may be quickly disassembled by a single operator for cleaning.

The systems are FDA-approved and GMP-compliant, and are delivered assembled, tested and ready for installation. The systems are installed by the company's engineering team and integrated into existing control systems.
