New Bus Link Reduces Costs to Modernize Siemens Apacs+ Process Control Systems

ATLANTA, Feb. 18, 2009 - Modernizing APACS+ installations to the SIMATIC® PCS 7 process control system is now more cost effective than ever with the APACS+ DP IOBUS Link from Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc.

The APACS+ DP IOBUS Link allows plants to upgrade their existing APACS+ controllers, while retaining the existing APACS+ I/O Modules and field wiring terminations.

Additionally, using the DP IOBUS Link delivers more computing power to existing systems -- including the ability to select multiple scan rates as fast as 10 milliseconds. This modernization will help extend the life and lower the total cost of ownership of the APACS+ system. It also retains existing field wiring and I/O for significant cost savings.

"Siemens continues to sell and support APACS+," said Ken Keiser, Siemens process automation marketing manager. "The new bus link is a good example of how the company is investing in APACS+ and helping customers get the highest possible return on their investment."
