Original Press Release:

Advanced Fluorochemical Solutions from AGC Chemicals Improve The Performance Properties of Wire and Cable

Exton, Pa., September 16, 2019 – Advanced fluoropolymer solutions Fluon+™ enhanced materials and compounds, Fluon+ modified PEEK and AFLAS® fluoroelastomers improve performance properties – such as durability, flexibility and heat resistance – of wire and cables in demanding applications. AGC Chemicals will feature these materials at the IWCS Suppliers Exhibition at booth 300.

luon+ materials use advanced fillers, pigment systems and additives to enhance the performance of AGC's Fluon® fluoropolymer resins. These materials add performance characteristics such as chemical resistance, wear resistance, creep resistance, toughness, lubricity, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. Products like wire and cable jackets, insulated coatings, fuel hoses and multilayer film made with Fluon+ materials are used in a wide range of applications in the automotive, aerospace, chemical processing, resource recovery, electronics and semiconductor markets.

Fluon+ modified PEEK uses specialty fluoropolymers to improve its impact strength, wear resistance, flexibility and electrical insulating properties. Fluon+ modified PEEK retains mechanical properties at high temperatures up to 200 °C.

It is ideal for wireline and cable insulations to better withstand repetitive use in harsh environments.

AFLAS 150E and AFLAS 400E fluoroelastomers are advanced insulation material options for high-voltage cable. AFLAS 150E fluoroelastomers outperform XL-PE cable systems, providing superior chemical resistance and high-temperature performance (200 °C versus 150 °C). AFLAS 400E has a fast cure site monomer and improved processing capabilities. Cable constructions using AFLAS are thinner, lighter weight and more flexible than those using XL-PE. AFLAS fluoroelastomers are ideal for transmission cable and HEV/EV cable for automotive applications that need to be lightweight and continue performing reliably at high temperatures. The material is compatible with aluminum and copper wire cores and is nonflammable, vibration resistant and flexible.

The IWCS International Cable & Connectivity Symposium will be held from September 29-October 2, 2019, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. The Supplier Exhibition, September 30-October 1, introduces the latest products and services from the important suppliers to the industry. For more information, visit http://www.iwcs.org/.
