QNAP Introduces QSW-M408 10GbE L2 Web Managed Switch Series, a User-friendly Network Management Solution for SMBs

Taipei, Taiwan, August 5, 2020 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP), a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today released the QSW-M408 series 4-port 10GbE SFP+ and 8-port Gigabit Layer 2 Web managed Switches, designed for meeting versatile needs in a hybrid high-speed network infrastructure. Featuring practical Layer 2 management functions, QSW-M408 series switches enable efficient deployment of bandwidth utilization to offer an entry-level network management solution for SMBs.

QSW-M408 series switches (QSW-M408-4C, QSW-M408-2C and QSW-M408S) come with four 10GbE SFP+ ports and eight Gigabit ports, for connecting multiple devices with SFP+ or RJ45 interfaces. The QSW-M408-4C and QSW-M408-2C include four and two additional 10GbE SFP+/RJ45 combo ports that are compatible with 10GbE and NBASE-T technologies to support five networking speeds (10Gbps, 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps and 100Mbps), allowing administrators to realize higher network speeds with existing Cat 5e and 6a cables. QSW-M408 series switches also provide Layer 2 management functions (such as LACP, VLAN, ACL and LLDP) via a user-friendly Web GUI for efficient network bandwidth control and enhanced network security.

"With the increasing need for high-speed networking, SMBs with tight budgets and limited manpower may be unable to afford or maintain standard 10GbE switches," said Frank Liao, Product Manager of QNAP, adding "Combining 10GbE, 1GbE and SFP+ and RJ45 interfaces, the affordable and easy-to-use QNAP QSW-M408 series switches allow users to flexibly deploy speeds and cabling for connecting different devices and efficiently maintaining networks."

The QSW-M408 series is one of the few web-managed switches on the market that supports the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and is compliant with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and IEEE802.3x Flow Control in full-duplex mode. You can easily and efficiently deploy small/medium-scale networks that support expansion, redundancy, and loop prevention, while avoiding packet loss from unparalleled bandwidth, and reducing power consumption for low-speed and inactive connections. When coupled with other QNAP 10GbE solutions (including NAS, network adapters and PCIe cards) QSW-M408 series switches provide exceptional value and performance for deploying high-speed networks.

Key specifications

  • QSW-M408-4C: 12-port (4 10GbE SFP+/RJ45 copper combo ports and 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports)
  • QSW-M408-2C: 12-port (4 10GbE SFP+ fiber ports, 2 SFP+/RJ45 copper combo ports and 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports)
  • QSW-M408S: 12-port (4 10GbE SFP+ fiber ports, 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports)
