NEU Introduces New Line of Tungsten-Filled Compounds for Improved Medical Device Applications

NORTH HAVEN, CT (May 22, 2007) - NEU, a leading international engineering polymer compounder, has introduced a new series of medical grade resins with features and benefits not found in currently used radio opaque polymers. Specifically the new grades include TPUs, nylons (polyamids), olefins and other resins.

Medical device applications include, but are not limited to, products that require smooth surfaces along with markers within the body such as diagnostic catheters.

As compared to other materials currently being used, the new grades from NEU:
o produce smooth surfaces
o are easier to process, either by injection molding or extrusion
o exhibit excellent solvent resistance
o soften at body temperature
o have a high specific gravity

The compounded new materials, available in Shore hardness ranges from 75A to 75D, can be ordered in quantities ranging from 25 to 500,000 pounds.
