IRVINE, CA - January 28, 2003 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), leading provider of networking solutions for the Enterprise, the SMB and all the way home, today announced that all of its 802.11g networking products for home and business will incorporate new technology that speeds connections and expands network capacity. Beginning in Q1, 2004, SMC's 802.11g Barricade(TM) g Wireless Routers and EZ Connect(TM) g Wireless Adapters will begin shipping with GlobespanVirata's (NASDAQ: GSPN) PRISM Nitro XM(TM) Xtreme Multimedia performance-enhancing technology. The firmware upgrade will be incorporated into SMC's 802.11g wireless networking products, and will also be available for download to upgrade 802.11g products already in the field at www.smc.com. Upgrades are free, and prices of SMC's 802.11g networking products will not be affected by the upgrade. At a blazing 140Mbps, SMC's upgraded 802.11g networking products offer the fastest wireless throughput possible in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz space. Fast enough to handle streaming video, multimedia and all other bandwidth-intensive applications, SMC's performance-enhanced 'G' family of products provide instant, seamless high-speed network connection for wireless clients that expands network capacity, and remains interoperable with any wireless LAN.
