Network Video Transcoder is optimized for efficiency.

Press Release Summary:

Offered as bandwidth optimization and grooming solution, EGT VIPr2600 employs software that increases video quality and PSIP table processing. Software also increases processing density to 8 MPEG-2 HD services per 1 RU chassis and supports processing of up to 42 MPEG-2 SD services. Device combines Intelligent Recoding technology with closed-loop statistical multiplexing, enabling creation of QAM multiplexes of up to 3 MPEG-2 HD or 15 MPEG-2 SD services.

EGT VIPr-TRx combines 'best in class' video performance with higher efficiency and lower cost

ATLANTA, June 25 -- EGT, provider of the most comprehensive video processing technology for digital networks, announced today the availability of the second generation software release for the EGT VIPr2600. The new release significantly increases the capabilities of the product, including increased processing density, video quality improvements and PSIP table processing.

The latest software release increases the EGT VIPr2600 processing density from six MPEG-2 HD services to eight MPEG-2 HD services per 1RU chassis. This release also supports the processing of up to 42 MPEG-2 SD services per chassis.

The EGT VIPr2600 combines EGT's unique Intelligent Recoding technology with closed-loop statistical multiplexing enabling the creation of high density QAM multiplexes of up to 3 MPEG-2 HD or 15 MPEG-2 SD services, providing as much as a 50 percent bandwidth efficiency gain for broadcast services. It is also ideally suited for clamping high bit-rate services providing high quality constant bit-rate (CBR) outputs to support switched digital video (SDV) deployments.

"The VIPr2600 provides a completely new and different approach to bandwidth optimization and grooming that fits perfectly with today's video distribution network architectures," said Santhana Krishnamachari, EGT's Vice President of Engineering. "The versatility of the VIPr platform simplifies digital video network designs with much more efficient architectures."

The EGT VIPr-TRx platform has been deployed by major U.S. CATV operators currently serving the highest quality video to over 1 million subscribers.
