Network Security Platform (2U) leverages power of 4 CPUs.

Press Release Summary:

Supporting server-grade motherboards with 2-3 year life cycle, FX-5210 features 4 Intel® Xeon® 7500 series CPUs, 256 GB of memory via DDR3 1,333/1,066/800 MHz DIMMs, 3 Ethernet modules, and redundant 910 W power supplies. Machine Check Architecture Recovery, included, lets silicon work with OS and VM manager to recover from otherwise fatal system errors. Each CPU supports 4 full-width Intel QPI links, supporting up to 25.6 GT/s per QPI link and data transfer rate to 6.4 GT/s per direction.

High Performance 2U Network Security Platform with Four CPUs

(Taipei, Taiwan) Today Lanner Electronics launched the FX-5210, the very first product of Lanner's brand new FX-5000 series.

The FX-5000 series is Lanner's first product line made to support server grade motherboards with 2 to 3 years of life cycle. The FX-5210, the flagship product of the FX-5000 line-up, features Intel® Xeon® 7500 Series processor, four CPUs, 256GB of memory, three Ethernet modules and redundant power.

The FX-5210 is powered by the Intel® Xeon® 7500 Series processor. The 7500 series represents the largest performance leap in Xeon's family history, with up to eight times the memory bandwidth of the Intel Xeon processor 7400 series.

Another notable feature of the Intel Xeon 7500 Series is the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) Recovery. MCA Recovery allows the silicon to work with the operating system and virtual machine manager to recover from otherwise fatal system errors.

The FX-5210 supports four Xeon 7500 processors and 32 DDR3 1333/1066/800Mhz DIMM, making available a total of 256 gigabyte of memory. Each processor supports four full-width Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) links with support of up to 25.6 GT/s per QPI link and with Data Transfer Rate of up to 6.4 GT/s per direction.

The FX-5210 comes with an onboard RAID controller, supporting RAID function via SAS/SATA connectors and it is equipped with 3 x PCI-Express by eight Ethernet modules that are compatible with Lanner's NCM LAN Modules.

What's more, the two 910W power supply units provide redundancy protection, ensuring a constant flow of power for the most sensitive networks that are relied on 24/7/365

Finally, the FX-5210 can be fitted with Lanner's Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) add-on card. IPMI allows network appliances be managed at a central location for remote configuration, installation, rebooting and shutting down through firewalls and NATs.

"Over the past few years the networking environment has grown even more complex and the firewall industry as we knew it has transformed itself, diverging into a number of highly specialized fields such as SIEM, IPS, email archiving and many others "said Jesse Chiang, executive product planner at Lanner Electronics Inc.

"Products of the FX-5000 series are designed to meet the multitudes of demands expected of today's information security service providers."
