New GigaStor(TM) Network Recorder Is First to Save to Disk Sustained Full-Duplex 10 Gb at Wire Speed

MINNEAPOLIS - Network Instruments, a worldwide leader in network and application management, today announced the availability of its newest GigaStor appliance for back-in-time analysis of 10 Gb links at wire-speed. The appliance is the industry's first retrospective network analysis (RNA) device capable of saving traffic to disk at full line rate on full-duplex 10 Gb links.

Capable of storing 192 TB, the new GigaStor is designed to help transaction-heavy enterprises validate and manage the delivery and performance of critical applications in the data center.

"Being able to handle sustained full-duplex 10 Gb is the only way to guarantee monitoring accuracy and verify the performance of technologies in high through-put environments," said Douglas Smith, president and co-founder of Network Instruments. "Whether managing new application rollouts, cloud and virtual migrations, or high-volume trading networks, our larger customers have demanded a robust and reliable solution to assess and optimize performance in the data center. Without these capabilities, customers risk dropping packets, missing performance problems, and slowing business processes."

The new GigaStor for 10 Gb wire-speed capture provides two ports for monitoring and the company's internally designed and manufactured Gen2(TM) capture card technology. The Gen2 is purpose-built and optimized for 10 Gb analysis, utilizing a 16-lane PCI Express capture facility and performing filtering and processing statistics on the card. The new GigaStor is available for purchase today.
