New Features In APCON's ENTERPOINT(TM) Software Produce Bottom-Line Benefits For Enterprise Customers

Global switch management and repeat functionality contribute to greater efficiency

Wilsonville, Oregon USA - APCON released a new version of its TITAN EnterPoint(TM) software today with key new features designed to improve global switch management and save time. EnterPoint, which offers a centralized point of control for enterprise network monitoring, is an industry-first software platform that makes it possible to manage connectivity between Layer 2/3 switches and network analysis equipment more efficiently.

"Now users can check the status of any APCON switch and perform routine maintenance without ever leaving EnterPoint," says APCON founder and CEO, Richard Rauch. "Not having to go to the switch-level software for this maintenance is both easier and faster."

Global Maintenance Speeds and Simplifies Switch Management

In elaborating on this new feature, Rauch said that users can now monitor the status of all APCON switches globally from the main EnterPoint screen. If a switch's status changes, the user is alerted and can quickly access a drop-down pane to determine which unit is experiencing issues. Clicking on that switch allows the user to begin troubleshooting the issue.

Users can also conduct critical switch-level maintenance within EnterPoint. Routine maintenance such as performing back-ups, restoring settings and upgrading switch software for every APCON switch in the network is possible from a single location in the interface.

Repeating Sessions Saves Time and Reduces Errors

EnterPoint has always featured an intuitive screen that allows the user to select desired ports to aggregate and filter prior to starting a monitoring session. New version 2.2 also allows users to name these monitoring sessions, so they can be tracked like a project. When viewing monitoring activity from the "dashboard" screen, users can now view and sort monitoring sessions by name as well - which makes it even easier to keep track of network activity.

Another feature debuting in version 2.2 enables users to right-click on any monitoring session and choose an option to repeat it. Now the process of manually re-building complicated configurations, and the errors associated with it, become a thing of the past.

EnterPoint Includes Current APCON Switch Features

EnterPoint supports all of the connection capabilities of APCON's IntellaPatch® switch family - including the IntellaFlex(TM) Packet Aggregator system that delivers aggregation and filtering. It provides the most robust tool for enterprise users to electronically share an inventory of expensive analysis devices from a "single pane of glass" - even if these devices are deployed in geographically dispersed data centers.

Additional features that distinguish EnterPoint include: 1) connectivity ranging from one-to-one to many-to-many, 2) the ability to manage bandwidth in accordance with changing network traffic levels, thus guarding against oversubscription, 3) a unique filtering screen through which users can easily define and execute various filtering options, and 4) the ability to track usage of network devices via an integrated reporting module.

"EnterPoint is an integral part of APCON's comprehensive strategy to make enterprise network monitoring more efficient," said Rauch. "It fills a critical void for today's network monitoring staff and ultimately helps enterprises keep pace with the changing needs of its customers."
