ViXS® Releases a New Family of Network Media Processors: XCode® 4100 Series



The most powerful Single Chip System on Chip HD Transcoder & Encoder Product family on the Market Today

TORONTO, Sept. 10 -- ViXS Systems Inc., the leader in highly innovative and advanced networked multimedia solutions, announced today the new High Performance Single Dual HD Transcoder/Encoder XCode(R) 4100 Network Media Processor family. This family of media processors is the only single chip on the market having the ability to transcode two HD 1080i60 or two 1080p30 video streams simultaneously in real-time. The transcoder engine also supports full 1080p60 MPEG-2, H.264 or VC-1 to 1080p60 MPEG-2 or H.264 transcoding. In addition the engine can support Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and Multi-view Video Coding (MVC) formats, providing product upgradability to work with the upcoming 1080p60 broadcasts and 3DTV stereoscopic broadcasts.

The XCode(R) 4100 Network Media Processor family includes Smart XCode(TM) technology which is based on sophisticated algorithms that dynamically switch between a highly efficient smart transcode and a full decode and full encode transcode mode. By taking advantage of the Smart XCode(TM) technology, Consumer Electronics, Set-Top Box (STB), and broadcast equipment manufacturers can develop highly flexible and robust media solutions, offering the utmost in video quality performance in their products.

The XCode(R) 4100 family has a powerful 1250 DMIPS application processor, allowing customers to run advanced applications for standalone multimedia products such as intelligent USB transcoders and Media Gateways. In a design that utilizes a main processor and requires video processing, the XCode(R) 4100 family can offer multiple advanced media processing features with the added benefit of offloading the main processor to provide additional functions such as DLNA networking. The XCode(R) 4100 is also targeted at advanced products such as Cable STBs, IPTV STBs, Personal Video recorders (PVRs), Place-shifting devices, Digital Televisions (DTVs), Blu-Ray PVR/Recorders, Home Media Servers and Home Networked Attached Storage (NAS) devices.
