Trapeze Networks Announces RingMaster-200 WLAN Management Appliance

Stackable, Pre-Configured Hardware Appliance Manages up to 5,000 Access Points, 1,000 Controllers

PLEASANTON, Calif., March 18 / / - Trapeze Networks®, the award-winning provider of Smart Mobile(TM) wireless solutions, today announced the RingMaster-200, a highly-scalable, rack-mount network management appliance that can manage up to 5,000 access points or 1,000 controllers. It is the first hardware version of Trapeze's award-winning RingMaster network management software and comes pre-tuned and optimized for wireless network management. The RingMaster-200 has a list price of US$18,995 and is immediately available.

RingMaster: Scaling the Biggest WLANs

"Today, it's common for enterprise Wi-Fi networks to include thousands of access points cover hundreds of acres and span multiple sites - a massive management issue," said Ahmet Tuncay, vice president of product management and marketing. "The RingMaster-200 dramatically simplifies the design, deployment and ongoing management of the most complicated Wi-Fi deployments."

Recently, Trapeze won the world's largest WLAN deployment, the University of Minnesota (http://tinyurl.com/264m58). In Information Week, Steve Cawley, the university's CIO and VP of information technology said, "[RingMaster] allowed us to quickly import our own CAD drawings and immediately begin Wi-Fi planning for 300 buildings, including 1,300-plus floors," (http://tinyurl.com/ynsedx).

RingMaster: Platform for Profits

"As far as we're concerned, RingMaster is a proven platform that improves our exceptional services as well as enhances our profit potential," said Jack Houghton, Director of Building Technology Sales, P1 Group, Inc. a leading electrical and mechanical construction and building services company headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas (http://p1group.com/bt). "Trapeze is a great company to do business with, and using RingMaster ensures we're engineering the best possible wireless networks for our customers. I believe RingMaster is essential to customer satisfaction.

RingMaster: Earning Applause

RingMaster has been recognized as the leading WLAN management platform since 2003 when Communications News selected it for the Editor's Choice award at InterOp (http://tinyurl.com/3aqggg). The following year, InfoWorld awarded Trapeze its Best WLAN Solution and wrote "RingMaster is easily the slickest and most flexible WLAN management application we've ever encountered. This is an amazing solution and a dream from a management and configuration standpoint," (http://tinyurl.com/2kkfwu). Since then, Trapeze has continuously improved Ringmaster, adding extensive feature enhancements and now a hardware appliance version.

RingMaster-200: A Total Management Platform

RingMaster software enables full lifecycle management of Trapeze Smart Mobile(TM) wireless networks. The RingMaster-200 combines the latest software version of RingMaster with a rack-mount hardware appliance based on a Linux OS and pre-tuned and optimized for best performance. The appliance includes dual 250 GB hard drives configured to RAID 1 to collect monitoring and configuration data. An enterprise that uses the RingMaster-200 will be able to easily scale to larger and larger deployments simply by purchasing and downloading the enabling license key. This saves hundreds of IT hours over configuring a generic server. The software version of RingMaster will continue to be supported by Trapeze and offers the same feature set as the appliance.

Trapeze: Protecting Its Customers' Investment

For a limited time, Trapeze customers already using RingMaster software can make a one-for-one swap of their RingMaster licenses for RM-200 licenses. The RM-200 ships with a base license for 250 access points included in the price and can be upgraded in increments of 10 to 1,000.
