Agilent Technologies' Industry-First Triple Play Analyzer Helps Customers Increase Market Share with Single Test Solution for IPTV, VoIP, Data Services

Analyzer Accelerates Development, Deployment and Monitoring of Video, Voice and Data Services, Enabling Faster Time to Market

BERLIN, VON Europe Autumn 2006, Booth 204, Nov. 6, 2006 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a triple play analyzer for video, voice and data monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting that enables companies to capture broadband market share and revenue faster.

The Agilent J6900A is the most complete test tool for network equipment manufacturers and communication service providers who develop, install, maintain and troubleshoot new triple play voice, video, and data networks and services. This flexible analysis dramatically improves operational efficiency by offering a solution for all types of services under a single local or distributed platform. Efficiency is increased at least three times by having a single instrument for all types of services with drill-down capabilities to the root cause of problems. The analyzer provides a single instrument for all services testing, one user interface to learn and a consistent troubleshooting methodology.

The J6900A triple play analyzer solution is the perfect tool to detect and resolve signaling, transport and voice/video/data QoE (quality of experience) problems before customers are affected. In addition, the analyzer is coupled with the legendary data analysis of the Agilent distributed network analyzer platform.

Agilent's triple play analyzer addresses numerous issues related to network interoperability, voice and video media transport, service delivery, QoE, and IP network performance in a single comprehensive tool without the need for expertise or programming. It provides the essential measurements and key performance indicators that enable engineers and technicians to quickly and proactively identify customer problems, empowering faster, less-expensive and higher-quality triple play deployments and networks.

Measurements provided by the analyzer include:

o Extensive IPTV, VoD, VoIP and data analysis in a single solution;

o In-depth signaling and media analysis for IPTV, VoD and VoIP;

o Passive analysis and troubleshooting of user traffic in real time;

o Analysis of channel zapping latency and VoD command response times;

o Video and voice MOS, QoE with transmission layer analysis, including RFC4445 - MDI (Media Delivery Index) and ETSI TR101-290 analysis, and;

o IPTV channels, VoD programs and voice calls statistics.

"The race for IPTV dominance is remarkable as the future of many companies depend on a successful deployment and acceptance of video over IP," said Christopher Witt, business manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Operation. "Using our triple play analyzer, network operators can quickly assess the impact of voice, data and video traffic, as well as measure the end-user quality of experience. This allows network operators to deploy high-quality services correctly -- the first time -- and increase market share and revenues."
