Nelson MPS Provides Convenient, Cost-Effective Firestop

Compact, yet accommodates large number and variety of cables, conduits, pipes and tubing

TULSA, OK - Nelson's MPS(TM) multi-plug firestop system seals cable penetrations through fire-rated floors and walls, preventing the spread of fire, smoke or water from one area to the next. It is ideal for safeguarding commercial buildings such as hospitals and research facilities, as well as on-shore and off-shore oil rigs, petrochemical refineries, and ship decks and bulkheads.

MPS systems consist of a compact circular frame installed within a cutout that houses a round outer shell of Tectron® elastomer along with a square inner core opening to accommodate multiple modules. Each system can fit up to nine cables. When compared to the standard practice of "stuffing tubes" for firestop protection, MPS systems take up less than half the wall or floor space, do not demand special tools like spanner wrenches or packing sticks, plus only one cutout is needed for the entire system, instead of individual cutouts for each cable.

Like the outer shell, the modules are molded from Tectron grooved to fit snugly around cables, pipes or conduits. Tecron expands when exposed to heat, providing a continuous seal even if cable jackets disintegrate. The entire assembly is locked in position to prevent dislodgement. Installation is quick, simple and requires no cable de-rating.

Airtight and watertight, even under shock or high vibration conditions, MPS provides a convenient and cost-effective firestop seal. For more details, call 860-331-7325 or visit www.nelsonfirestop.com.
