NComputing Widens Virtual Desktop Adoption in Europe with Superior Citrix HDX Thin Client Technology

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  New Customers in Manufacturing, Professional Services and Local Government Showcase N-Series for More Flexible, Easier to Manage, Greener and Enhanced Computing

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Gold Sponsorship of Citrix Mobility European events to help customers & channel explore benefits of desktop virtualisation solutions

Hemel Hempstead, UK – NComputing, the leader in accelerating the adoption of desktop virtualisation, today reported on its latest customer successes, as uptake of its award winning N-series Citrix Ready® HDX® verified SoC thin clients for Citrix® environments grows across Europe.

N-series thin clients extend desktop virtualisation benefits for Citrix customers across a number of key vertical markets, including manufacturing, healthcare, finance and education, expanding these markets for the company and its channel of partners and resellers.

Among the latest European businesses deploying N-series technology is German concrete building products manufacturer Dressler-Bau. The company is undertaking a major PC replacement programme with an enterprise-wide desktop virtualisation solution comprising of Citrix XenApp and NComputing N500 thin clients.

As Jochen Marquardt, IT Director at Dressler-Bau explains: "We're aiming to deliver a superior end user IT experience for our engineers and administrative staff wherever they are within our business or off-site with our customers. NComputing thin clients will help us achieve this goal and enable more flexible, quieter and greener workplace computing while also simplifying desktop management across multiple locations."

Another customer is Ecorys, a premier player in the provision of research, evaluation, consultancy and technical assistance services to the public, private and third sectors, working closely with national governments including the UK government and the European Commission. The organisation is replacing PCs with NComputing N-series thin clients for its network of UK offices.

Paul Maturi, the UK IT manager, Ecorys says: "We wanted to future proof the new infrastructure and maximise Citrix's HDX technology for its long term multimedia and unified communications potential. The key for us was how could we do this most cost effectively because we were completely replacing the entire infrastructure overnight. So the combined affordability and HDX support of the N-series made our goal of giving everyone HDX and access to rich media applications from day one feasible."

Another major implementation is Struer Kommune, a municipal government body serving approximately 22,400 citizens in the small coastal Danish town Struer. To provide more flexible computing, Struer is deploying NComputing N500 thin clients for its staff.

"We needed a solution that would enable us to accommodate a broad range of on-premise and remote users into the working environment and simplify IT management," said Claus Vagn Ohrt, IT consultant at Struer Kommune. "With NComputing's technology we managed to improve remote access to IT resources for all local government employees – from standard office workers and school admin staff, to engineers and healthcare workers. Moreover, the deployment of the vSpace Management Centre enabled our IT staff to easily access and manage all N-series devices from a single platform which dramatically simplified IT management and reduced hardware replacement and maintenance costs."

These and other new wins follow announcements in 2012 about major implementations elsewhere in the manufac turing sector, as well as NComputing's traditional educational markets. They are also testament to how NComputing has continued to develop and expand its channel across Europe.

To find out more about how N-series thin clients can support a wide range of vertical market solutions, NComputing is running demonstrations at the Citrix Mobility events in Europe throughout June. Visitors to the NComputing stand will also be able to see how the latest edition of vSpace Management Center for N-series devices offers centralised highly scalable, anywhere, anytime management using an intuitive Web-based console.
