nCode Enables New Levels of Productivity in Accelerated Testing

Customers realize testing productivity benefits from employing new technology

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan - 03 October 2007 - nCode International, a leading provider of durability focused software & instrumentation solutions, announced today that customers in major automotive and aerospace laboratory testing departments are reporting significant productivity benefits from using the Accelerated Testing module of ICE-flow GlyphWorks®. The GlyphWorks data processing software is part
of a suite of ICE-flow products that also includes test data management and CAE simulation.

Chrysler's Dr. Yung-Li Lee, a Senior Specialist in the Stress Lab & Durability department, said, We have seen real time savings in performing random vibration tests by using GlyphWorks Accelerated Testing and will now look forward to promoting the method both internally and in our supplier base. Dr. Lee is also the author of the acclaimed text book, Fatigue Testing and Analysis: Theory and Practice.

Other vehicle manufacturers are also seeing benefits from being able to simulate both road and engine vibrations in a more realistic manner. With Accelerated Testing, they are able to create tests that more closely reflect real-world vibrations than previous methods and provide improved confidence in the rapid validation of key components in the lab.

A leading European helicopter OEM, AgustaWestland, is seeing substantial benefits in improved confidence. It must frequently compare the durability of vibrating components which are certified to different standards. When the prototype helicopter is available it must also review the vibration certification tests in light of the measured performance data. Using GlyphWorks Accelerated Testing has enabled us to directly compare the fatigue damage and shock content of different vibration tests in a quantitative fashion. Furthermore, we can use it to clearly determine the safety margins between sign-off certification and installation on the production helicopter,
stated Trevor Walton, a Principal Engineer for Dynamics at AgustaWestland in the UK.
The product combines academic research and military standards such as the NATO draft standard AECTP 200 and the French Ministry of Defense Standard GAM-EG13 into a unique package that enables large amounts of real measured data to be converted into a simple test specification.

It's great to see our customers realizing these productivity benefits in accelerated testing. We are experiencing a high level of interest in this technology, not only for structural components in ground vehicle and aerospace but also for vibration testing in other applications such as electronics, said Jon Aldred, Product Manager for ICE-flow GlyphWorks.
