NCC08-75-3000-3X Voice Coil Actuator features moving coil design.

Press Release Summary:

NCC08-75-3000-3X Voice Coil Actuator generates continuous force of 1330 N and peak force of 4000 N. Unit features a stroke of 20 mm and motor constant of 323 N/sqrt(watt)]. Actuator measures 190 mm diameter and 207 mm retracted length. Unit’s moving coil design provides hysteresis free movement and non-commutated coil offers ripple free motion and eliminates cogging. Product is suitable for focusing applications or fiber optic routing applications.

Original Press Release:

World’s Highest Force Voice Coil Actuator

H2W Technologies has developed the world’s highest force commercially available non-commutated DC linear actuator, otherwise known as a direct drive voice coil actuator. The model NCC08-75-3000-3X is capable of generating a continuous force of 300 pounds [1330 N] and a peak force of 900 pounds [4000 N] at a duty cycle of 10% (i.e. 1 second on, and 9 seconds off). A moving mass of just under 8 lbs [3.6 kg] allows for a maximum theoretical continuous acceleration of nearly 38 G’s.

The NCC08-75-3000-3X has a stroke of 0.8 in [20 mm] and a motor constant of 17.6 lbs/sqrt(watt) [323 N/sqrt(watt)]. The voice coil motor requires 4 amps of continuous current and 12 amps of peak current in order to generate the specified forces. The massive actuator has a diameter of 7.47 in [190 mm] and a retracted length of 8.15 in [207 mm].

The moving coil design ensures a hysteresis free movement as the bobbin is constructed of aluminum while the non-commutated coil allows for ripple-free motion and no cogging. The voice coil actuator has been designed with a thru hole in the magnet and coil assemblies. This allows for the integration of a shaft and bearing system through the center of the motor. Alternatively, the actuator can be used in many applications where a thru hole would be necessary such as focusing applications or fiber optic routing.
