Native SDN Solution aids DDoS attack detection and mitigation.

Press Release Summary:

DefenseFlow™ AMN Cyber Control and Intelligence Application v1.0 is available for NEC ProgrammableFlow Controller. Utilizing NEC controller that programs NEC ProgrammableFlow SDN switches as part of DoS/DDoS protection service, solution lets network operators provision DoS/DDoS protection service per virtual tenant network or per customer. DefenseFlow leverages adaptive behavioral-based DoS attack detection engine and traffic diversion mechanism.

Radware Releases DefenseFlow v1.0 for NEC's ProgrammableFlow® Controller

Radware Expands Its Attack Mitigation Network (AMN) Coverage Through Collaboration With NEC to Produce a Native SDN Solution That Allows Users to Provision Protection Against DoS/DDoS Attacks Per Virtual Network

MAHWAH, N.J. -- Radware(R)(Nasdaq:RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, announced it has released the general availability version of DefenseFlow(TM), the AMN Cyber Control and Intelligence Application v1.0, for the NEC ProgrammableFlow Controller.

Together, NEC and Radware have produced a native SDN solution based on both vendors' products to expand DDoS attacks detection and mitigation in NEC ProgrammableFlow networks. Utilizing the NEC controller that programs NEC ProgrammableFlow SDN switches to become part of the DoS/DDoS protection service itself, DefenseFlow allows network operators to provision a DoS/DDoS protection service per virtual tenant network or per customer.

Radware's DefenseFlow includes an SDN security application that enables network operators to program the network to provide DDoS protection as a native network service for SDN enabled networks. DefenseFlow features an adaptive behavioral-based DoS attack detection engine and a traffic diversion mechanism that utilizes the programmable characteristics of the software defined network elements for attack cleansing.

Several key features include:

--  Best DDoS Protection solution in the industry -- DefenseFlow deploys Behavioral-based technology to detect network attacks in real time; mitigates attacks with Radware field proven attack mitigation devices.

--  Dynamic service provisioning -- security services are provisioned per virtual tenant network enabling operators to apply it as an on-demand service for their commercial offering.

--  Highly reduced costs -- the attack mitigation device is a shared resource that is virtualized per tenant and used only when under attack. This means significant CapEx and OpEx savings when compared to standard inline or out-of-path DDoS mitigation solutions.

"We are happy to collaborate with NEC on this initiative extending the Attack Mitigation Network ecosystem to offer easy to provision DDoS attack mitigation as a service for SDN enabled networks," says Avi Chesla, chief technology officer at Radware. "Radware's unique and field-proven DDoS protection technology together with NEC's rich experience in the server and networking markets, and its innovative first to market commercial OpenFlow products, provides an advantage for any datacenter and/or clouds managed security providers that consider transition to SDN frameworks."

"Protecting IT resources from malicious attack has become a critical role for IT organizations," says Don Clark, director of business

development, NEC Corporation of America. "The integration of DefenseFlow with ProgrammableFlow Controller can provide a scalable solution for detecting and mitigating denial of service and other attacks, especially for multi-tenant cloud environments."
