ITW Pillar Technologies Announces Development of New High-Speed Narrow Web Corona Treatment System

Hartland, WI — ITW Pillar Technologies has announced the development of the highest-speed narrow web treatment technology to enter the label and narrow web market.

The new VELOCITY™ Series of label and narrow web corona treatment systems incorporate ITW Pillar Technologies’ revolutionary high density electrode discharge technology, enabling production processing speeds in excess of 450 meters/min. According to Steve Helker, Sales Manager – Surface Treatment Systems, “Our new Velocity™ Series of narrow web corona systems pack an unprecedented amount of treatment power inside a very compact design to meet the higher-speed imaging needs of all digital and offset processes.”

The VELOCITY™ Series of narrow web systems are represented by five standard models, offering what is now the industry’s widest range of treatment widths - from 180mm to 915mm – for this application design. Standard systems are also configured for treating one side, or optionally two sides, of both conductive and non-conductive webs.

All models of the VELOCITY™ Series feature two stainless steel idler rollers and a zero-speed safety interlock, as well as a new compact, solid state generator with an integrated transformer module. “This new state-of-the-art narrow web corona technology promotes exceptional ink, coating and adhesive adhesion for top-coated papers, polymer films, foils, synthetic papers, nonwovens, and many more label and narrow web substrates”, added Helker.

Additional system options include an ozone destruct system, remote control, watt density control, loss of treatment beacon, web cleaner, and static elimination.

Helker added, “Digital press manufacturers and label converters had asked us to design a powerful system to improve productivity, but also at a price more economical than our competitors. We met that objective with the VELOCITY™ Series.”

“Since its beginnings, ITW Pillar Technologies has seized every change and major shift in the converting industry as an opportunity to evolve, reinvent itself, and remain a leading manufacturer and innovative partner for its customers,” according to Rory Wolf, Business Unit Manager for ITW Pillar Technologies

“Innovating highly-productive technology is part of good business management. It’s a matter of being aware of our customer’s needs and making the commitment to addressing those needs with existing or new technology. We welcome change where change is needed, and we always make sure we are the first to offer new techniques, new processes, and new services in order to bring our customers leading-edge solutions. This effort has served to differentiate us in this highly competitive market,” said Wolf.
