Narrow Tolerance High Voltage Resistors from Murata Replace Variable Resistors in Power Supply and High Voltage Applications

Hoofddorp, Netherlands: Murata's MHR03xx series of high voltage resistors is now available with tighter tolerances than in previous versions. Parts in the range 1M? to 100M? are available with ±0.5% tolerances, and parts up to 500M? can be produced with tolerances of ±1%. These new narrow tolerance parts are produced using Murata's state of the art laser trimming technology, and can help reduce costs by replacing more expensive variable resistors in certain types of design. Murata has been producing high voltage resistors for more than 35 years and is the market leader in the technology.

Murata's MHR03xx series can operate up to 14kVDC, depending on the part number. The smallest part in the range is the MHR0307SA, available in 1 to 500M? versions with operating voltage up to 3.0kVDC and rated power of 0.3W. The MHR0307SA measures 7.6 x 5.0 x 2.5mm with a lead pitch of 5.08mm. At the other end of the range, the MHR0319SA measures 20.2 x 5.0 x 2.5mm with a lead pitch of 17.78mm. These resistors can operate up to 14.0kVDC with rated power of 1.0W and are available up to 1000M?.

The MHR03xx series of high voltage resistors is ideal for use in high voltage power supplies and high voltage transformers. Applications include office equipment such as laser printers and photocopiers, air conditioning systems, household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, beauty appliances such as hair dryers, automotive electronics including diesel particulate filters, some medical electronics applications including X-ray machines and defibrillators, and many more.
