MyNetworkTV Selects TANDBERG Television Satellite Distribution Solution for Network Launch

Delivery of High Quality Video Enabled by the TANDBERG Television Director v5 Network Management and Receiver Control System

ATLANTA-Sept. 1, 2006-TANDBERG Television (OSE:TAT) today announced that MyNetworkTV, the new primetime television network with 167 affiliates representing 96% of U.S. TV households, has chosen TANDBERG Television to provide both high definition and standard definition MPEG-2 encoding solutions for its launch on September 5, 2006. The win marks the sixth U.S. broadcast network currently using TANDBERG Television systems for satellite distribution of network programming to affiliates. Implementation of the new system will enable MyNetworkTV, the only high definition broadcast television network in the U.S., to deploy a robust satellite distribution system, enabling the highest quality of video for the launch of the new network this fall.

"TANDBERG Television is pleased to have been chosen to provide the video and audio distribution system for the launch of MyNetworkTV in the U.S.," said Lisa Hobbs, Senior Director of Business Development, TANDBERG Television, Inc. "Our comprehensive range of encoding and receiving solutions, designed with the rigors of 24-hour-a-day broadcasting in mind, has made us the leading choice for U.S. broadcasters today. We look forward to working with MyNetworkTV both during and after the launch of its new network."

At its network origination center in Los Angeles, MyNetworkTV will deploy TANDBERG Television's E5710 and E5780 MPEG-2 SD and HD encoders, MX5620 multiplexers, and Director v5 network management and receiver control system. Each affiliate, depending on its use of either the SD or HD feed (or both), will deploy a TT1260 MPEG-2 SD or TT1280 MPEG-2 HD professional receiver.

The TANDBERG Television Director system is an industry-leading solution designed to both manage encoding systems at the point of program origination via TANDBERG nCompass Control and remotely control and manage up to 50,000 receivers deployed in the field. The newest Director release differs from earlier versions of the system in that no smart cards are required for receiver control; the security is embedded inside the receivers.

The capabilities of Director enable broadcasters to schedule programming or entitlement changes in advance, download new software to receivers over the air or securely encrypt the content being distributed, and individually or by group entitle receivers to view the content. More importantly, networks and other users are able to mix and match functionality and choose only those features they need, thereby controlling their costs. By leveraging the capabilities of the TANDBERG Director v5 system, MyNetworkTV will be able to seamlessly deliver the highest quality video and audio possible to all affiliate stations.
