Multi-Stage Washer Extracts Vapor

July 7, 2003 - Saratoga Springs, NY - Guyson Corporation has incorporated a filter accessory on its conveyorized parts cleaning system to prevent the discharge of vapors and mist from spray washing operations. The Model 600-WRB includes washing, rinsing and blow-off drying modules in a small-footprint package for work cell applications.

Fabricated in 304 stainless steel to resist corrosion by aqueous cleaning agents, each wet process chamber drains to an electrically heated tank equipped with level sensors and automatic valving for solution replenishment. The washing fluid passes through a removable strainer basket, then is pumped through bag or cartridge filters that remove particles from circulation. Dual in-line filters are available in those cases when more stringent cleanliness specifications for particulate contaminants must be met.

The mist collector extracts and filters over 400 cubic feet of air per minute. Non-corroding plastic ducts are attached to the top of the parts washer's entry and exit vestibules to collect vapor-laden air before it escapes to the operator's work area. Condensate from the filter unit is returned to the solution tank.

Components are transported through the cleaning system on the 23 inch wide stainless steel mesh belt of the Model 600-WRB. Inside the wash and rinse chambers, spray bars over, under and on both sides deliver heated solution to an array of high impact V-spray nozzles, ensuring vigorous impingement on all component surfaces. In the drying module, high velocity air knives surround the interior of the tunnel to concentrate the blast of heated air from a powerful regenerative blower. The conveying speed of the belt is adjustable to meet variable production requirements.

A touch-screen panel simplifies the operator interface and streamlines the controls, eliminating numerous buttons, lights, switches and other electrical components that would otherwise be subject to wear and tear or failure. Linked to a variety of electronic sensors through the system's programmable logic controller (PLC), the graphic interface displays real-time process data such as solution and dryer air temperatures. It also presents multiple levels of touch-and-select displays that include prompts and text instructions that reduce the demands on operators and the opportunities for human error.

Prospective users of the Model 600WRB conveyor part washing system are encouraged to submit sample components for free cleaning trials in the Saratoga Springs, New York, manufacturer's application engineering test laboratory.
