Optimize Sorbent Requirements
Using an optimized sorbent product in a healthcare product or its packaging can significantly reduce the harmful effects that are caused by free-moisture and oxygen within the drug packaging. Multisorb's Quality by Design (QbD) based Calculation through OperationsSM program allows healthcare product manufacturers to quickly determine which sorbent solutions are required to maintain their product's desired stability and shelf life.

Calculations include the use of empirically-derived data in pseudo-empirical models to determine the right sorbent solution by taking into account several interdependent variables such as the packaging, the healthcare product, and the sorbent. By evaluating these variables together as a system, the correct sorbent type and quantity can be selected to assure that the healthcare product's quality, stability, shelf life, and efficacy will be maintained.

Sorbent Selection that Fits
Complex stability challenges within the healthcare market can often require IntelliSorb(TM) sorbent formulations. Multisorb Technologies' IntelliSorb(TM) sorbent formulations offer customized or multi-functional moisture, oxygen, and volatilized hydrocarbon control within drug product packaging or, in some cases, within the drug device itself. IntelliSorb(TM) has the ability to monitor and react to environmental changes in moisture, oxygen, or volatiles within the packaging headspace or the device.

Finding the ideal sorbent chemistry is only a portion of the complete solution. The correct sorbent configuration that is used must be based on the application, drug formulation, packaging, and functional requirements. Multisorb's sorbents are available in Drop-In, Fit-In, Built-In configurations.

Drop-In
Drop-in solutions StripPax®, StabilOx®, and SorbiCap® are placed directly into the product package or container in the form of packets or canisters.

Fit-In
Fit-in solutions, such as Multiform CSF®, are coated solid forms that can be precision shaped into a variety of configurations and fit directly into the product container, therefore, eliminating loose sorbent sachets and canisters. Because of the compressed form, they deliver greater moisture protection in the same dimensional space as traditional sachets and canisters.

Built-In
Multisorb uses a proprietary desiccant loaded polymer, PolySorb(TM), to integrate the sorbent properties right into an existing part. This eliminates the need for any additional components in the product or packaging - making the sorbent invisible to the consumer.

Trouble-free Sorbent Dispensing
Multisorb's drop-in solutions are designed for use with Multisorb's Active-Pak Automation (APA) dispensing machinery to create an unsurpassed system for sorbent dispensing. Because Multisorb's sorbents are designed, manufactured, and tested with the same technology as included on the APA dispensing machine, Multisorb's system approach offers easy integration of sorbent delivery into a variety of packaging lines. Many features and options are available.

Multisorb will be demonstrating several dispensers at Interpack 2011 including the:
  • APA-2000 High-Speed StripPax® Dispenser with Synchronized Lug-Chain Interface (for horizontal flow-wrapping);
  • APA-2000 High-Speed StripPax Dispenser with Bottling Line Interface; and
  • APA-1000 Low-Speed StripPax® Dispenser with Direct Drop Interface.
