Multisorb Technologies is Keeping Food Fresh

Active Packaging Naturally Maintains Color, Taste, and Aromas

Düsseldorf, Germany - Multisorb Technologies will be showcasing several of its active packaging formulations and solutions for the food industry at Interpack 2011. Each type of food, whether it's baked goods, meats, dairy products, or even nuts, can present unique packaging challenges when it comes to maintaining freshness throughout the products shelf life. Multisorb's active packaging solutions can be customized to meet those specific challenges.

Determining the Correct Sorbent Solution for Your Operations
Preserving the moisture in baked goods, maintaining the red color of your steaks, or keeping your ingredients list all-natural - whatever the concern, Multisorb's line of Drop-In, Fit-In, Built-In solutions can help maintain product freshness.

Drop-In
Drop-in solutions FreshPax®, MiniPax®, and StripPax® are dropped into the product package or container in the form of packets protecting food from the damaging effects of unregulated moisture and oxidation.

Multisorb's drop-in solutions can be teamed with Multisorb's Active-Pak Automation (APA) dispensing equipment to create an unsurpassed system for sorbent dispensing. APA dispensing equipment offers easy integration of sorbent delivery into a variety of packaging lines. Many features and options are available.

MAPLOX(TM) (Modified Atmosphere Packaging Low Oxygen) is one of the systems that Multisorb will highlight at Interpack 2011. MAPLOX(TM) is an easy to use, low oxygen packaging program that maintains refrigerated fresh meat in prime condition. MAPLOX(TM), which teams FreshPax® CR packets and a FreshPax® CR dispenser, will retain the freshness, color, and flavor of meats within a master bag.

Fit-In
Multisorb will also be showcasing FreshCard(TM), a backer card with oxygen absorbing properties, and FreshMax®, an ultrathin, self-adhesive oxygen absorber. These fit-in solutions eliminate loose sorbent sachets and canisters.

FreshCard(TM) and FreshMax® are designed to protect food products against oxidative degradation. Oxygen in the product packaging can accelerate rancidity, color change, and loss of nutritional value.

As more consumers are requesting natural and organic products, manufacturers are challenged with maintaining product integrity and extending the shelf life of these products. With the use of FreshCard(TM) and FreshMax®, preservatives, such as BHA and BHT, are no longer required. This allows food manufacturers to provide a more natural product to the consumer.

Built-In
Multisorb uses a proprietary desiccant loaded polymer, PolySorb(TM), to integrate the sorbent properties right into an existing part. This eliminates the need for any additional components in the product or packaging - making the sorbent invisible to the consumer.

Multisorb is introducing a new built-in solution - a proprietary oxygen absorbent packaging film, PolyFresh, which has been found effective in extending shelf life of moist and semi-moist food products in pouch and tray packaging.
