Brocade SilkWorm Multiprotocol Router Now Available From Fujitsu

Award-Winning Router Enables Resource Sharing across SAN Islands, Streamlines Data Migration, Backup, and Recovery for ETERNUS(TM) Customers in Japan

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 16 -- Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade(R)) (NASDAQ:BRCD), the leading provider of infrastructure solutions for Storage Area Networks (SANs), today announced that Fujitsu Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, will offer the award- winning(1) Brocade SilkWorm Multiprotocol Router as part of its ETERNUS(TM) Storage product family beginning at the end of the month. Shipping in Japan as the Fujitsu "SN200 Model 250M," the SAN Router enables resource sharing across SAN islands and supports streamlined data migration, backup, and recovery applications.

"We're pleased to add the SAN Router from Brocade to our ETERNUS Storage product family," said Hitoshi Matsushima, General Manager, Storage Solution Division, Storage Systems Group at Fujitsu Limited. "For data recovery and connecting multiple small SANs the 250M helps Fujitsu deliver flexible, scalable, and highly available information infrastructures to the enterprise data center."

The ETERNUS 250M SAN Router non-disruptively connects storage and server devices across storage networks by creating Logical SANs (LSANs) that maintain separate fabric infrastructures. It also enables hierarchical routed connectivity, easier fault isolation, and simplified administration with industry-standard zoning practices and familiar management tools. These capabilities also lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of other SAN assets by enabling resource sharing across storage networks. With the SAN Router, data center managers can also share high-value storage resources, such as shared backup or replication resources, across multiple servers in multiple fabrics with minimal changes to the existing network design.

"We are pleased that Fujitsu Limited is making the latest innovations in storage networking available to their customers in Japan," said Tom Buiocchi, Brocade Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. "Data center managers will benefit with more flexibility in how they design SANs and new ways to enhance the value of existing infrastructure."
