Multiplexers have low jitter for communications.

Press Release Summary:

SY100EP56V, SY100EP57V, and SY100EP58V multiplexers have low random jitter and deterministic jitter of less than 1 psrms and 25 pspk-pk, respectively. This meets jitter and skew requirements of SONET/SDH communications systems, high-end enterprise server applications, and ATE systems. All three operate from supply voltage between 3.0 and 5.5 V, and work in -40 to +85°C temperature range.

Micrel's 3GHz PECL Clock or Data Multiplexers Feature the Lowest Jitter Performance for Communications Systems

-...Less than 1psrms Random Jitter and 25pspk-pk Deterministic Jitter

-...Pin-for-pin, plug-in replacement to On Semiconductor

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- (May 23, 2002) -Three new high-speed, PECL/LVPECL multiplexers (MUX) are being released to meet the ultra-low jitter and skew requirements in SONET/SDH communications systems, high-end enterprise server applications, and ATE systems. Micrel (NASDAQ: MCRL) is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of integrated circuits for the analog, power management and high-speed communications markets.

The SY100EP56V dual differential 2:1 MUX is offered in a 20-pin TSSOP package and is a pin-for-pin, plug-in replacement to the On Semiconductor MC100EP56DT. The SY100EP57V differential 4:1 MUX is also offered in a 20-pin TSSOP package and is a pin-for-pin, plug-in replacement to the On-Semiconductor MC100EP57DT. And last, the SY100EP58V 2:1 MUX is offered in an 8-pin SOIC and MSOP package (identical to the TSSOP) and is a pin-for-pin, plug-in replacement to the On Semiconductor MC100EP58D/DT. Unlike the competitor's parts, these Micrel MUX alternatives feature low jitter performance optimized for communications applications-extremely low random jitter and deterministic jitter of less than 1psrms and less than 25pspk-pk , respectively. Other key features include guaranteed AC parameters over temperature and supply voltage; maximum frequency greater than 3GHz, within device skew (SY100EP56V) less than 100ps, and output rise and fall time of less than 230ps. All three multiplexers operate from a wide supply voltage between +3.0V and +5.5V, and are guaranteed over the -40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range.

The SY100EP56V dual 2:1 MUX and SY100EP57 4:1 MUX have been released to production, and pricing starts at $4.98 (1,000-piece suggested resale, FOB USA). The SY100EP58V 2:1 MUX will be released to production by the end of March 2002, and pricing will start at $3.95 (1,000-piece suggested resale, FOB USA.
