Multiplexed Matrix Switch is compatible with system 8 SmartSwitch.

Press Release Summary:

Multiplexed Matrix Switch enables user to route signals for data acquisition applications and run automated functional tests on components. Unit allows operator to compare signals from up to 64 points on a circuit. Product offers signal routing from DC to 60MHz through standard IDC connectors and helps to switch signals up to 100V or 1A with a 10W limit. This 16x16 matrix switch can record and generate detailed reports in CSV, Database or HTML formats.

Saelig Introduces Multiplexed Matrix Switch and SmartSwitch for PCB Tester

Two new products add to the versatility of ABI Electronics’ System 8 PCB Test System

Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced the Multiplexed Matrix Switch (MMS) which increases ABI's SYSTEM 8 usefulness and efficiency by combining the capabilities of multiplexer and matrix switching topologies. It provides the ability to route signals for various design verification and data acquisition applications, run automated functional tests on components and PCBs, measure and compare signals from up to 64 points on a circuit, as well as making more efficient use of cables, clips and probes. And all this is available without the need for programming - and for a much lower cost than traditional ATE, PXI, or LXI instrumentation.

The MMS is a 16x16 matrix (256 crosspoints) for connecting any channel to any channel, with up to 16 unique paths. It is a multiplexer/demultiplexer with a very flexible architecture, e.g. 1 to 64, 2 to 32 … 16 to 4 or any combination in-between. It provides signal routing from DC to 60MHz through standard IDC connectors, and can switch signals up to 100V or 1A with a 10W limit. It is also expandable, with multiple systems capable of working together to increase testing possibilities.

When the MMS is used with ABI’s SYSTEM 8 Modules and ABI's TestFlow Manager software, it allows versatile test procedures to be run very efficiently

  • Create and store interactive test sequences with media-rich content (Office files, PDFs, webpages and videos)
  • Record and generate detailed reports in CSV, Database or HTML formats
  • Add conditional programming using the built-in script editor and variables
  • Run multi-point, power-off 3D signature analysis with automatic frequency sweep
  • Perform interval scanning and logging of DMM readings
  • Inject AC/DC signals and get automatic PASS/FAIL results from multiple reference points
  • Integrate library-driven component level functional test to your verification routines
  • Communicate and manage external applications using Python

Further flexibility and convenience can be added by using the SYSTEM 8 SmartSwitch to navigate through a customized software test sequence. The SYSTEM 8 SmartSwitch is a fully programmable, two-channel USB footswitch designed to operate exclusively with ABI's SYSTEM 8 Ultimate software and test equipment. Consisting of a hardware plug & play module that connects to a standard full-size USB port, the SYSTEM 8 SmartSwitch provides 2 channels that can take on up to 4 switch inputs. These inputs can be provided by standard triggering mechanisms such as foot or hand switch, safety buttons, conveyors and compatible sensors. The operator can configure how each input should be interpreted by ABI's software through a built-in, user-friendly Control Panel available in SYSTEM 8 Ultimate software.

For low-volume operations, the SYSTEM 8 Multiplexed Matrix Switch combined with the SYSTEM 8 Range, allows many sequential tests to be performed on a Board Under Test without the need for constant plugging/unplugging cables, drastically reducing both test set up time and execution. Made in Europe by ABI Electronics Ltd., a leading embedded test equipment manufacturer, the ABI System 8 products are available from ABI’s technical distributor Saelig Company, Inc., Fairport, NY.
