Epson's New Generation of 3LCD Ultraportable Projectors Give Presenters Brilliant Image Quality and Cutting-Edge Connectivity for Easier, Flexible Setup and Use

New Lightweight Projectors Feature XGA Resolution With Up to 2,700 ANSI Lumens of Brightness, Video Connectivity Via USB Cable, and 'Quick Connect' 802.11 a/b/g for Projecting Wireless Full-Screen Video Up to 30 Frames Per Second With Audio

LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 5 // -- Epson is continuing to set the pace in the world of multimedia front projectors with the launch of four XGA resolution ultraportable projectors designed specifically for today's on-the-go professionals. The Epson PowerLite 1700c and 1710c feature the company's most advanced and ideal combinations of weight and brightness at 3.5 pounds with up to 2,200 and 2,700 ANSI lumens of brightness (respectively). Additionally, the new Epson PowerLite 1705c and PowerLite 1715c (3.7 pounds each) are step-up models that offer the same respective brightness ratings but also feature one of the industry's broadest, fastest and most convenient ranges of connectivity options to date.

"Epson is committed to pushing the envelope when it comes to combining outstanding image quality, usability and industry-leading technology into all of its products, and these four projectors are certainly no exception," said Aaron Marinari, senior product manager, Epson America. "These new projectors not only take advantage of some incredible technology and advanced engineering, but do so in a way that actually simplifies the most critical steps of operation for presenters such as powering up, getting connected and shutting down, just to name a few. So rather than just offering projectors that are light and bright, we go the extra mile to deliver the best overall values possible, which is just one of the reasons why Epson continues to be the worldwide leader of front projection products."

Making Wireless Easier, Faster and More Flexible

The PowerLite 1705c and 1715c allow users to take full advantage of 802.11a/b/g wireless technology. Epson's proprietary expertise in wireless technology enables the projection of full-screen, full-motion (30 frames per second) MPEG2 video with audio. These projectors also help solve one of today's most significant barriers that keep many professionals from incorporating wireless technology more frequently in their presentations, and that's the ability to establish a wireless connection in a faster, less complicated manner. Epson's new "Quick Connection Mode" features an automated setup process that enables users with virtually no wireless experience to quickly and easily establish a fast (up to 54 megabytes per second) connection between their computer and projector. Furthermore, the PowerLite 1705c and 1715c are compatible with several of the industry's most advanced security encryption formats to ensure the most secure transmission of data possible.

Both the PowerLite 1705c and 1715c have an optional Ethernet (wired LAN) module and Epson's Easy MP(TM) monitoring software, which enable them to be controlled over networks by I.T. and A/V professionals. The projectors proactively alert administrators about a variety of technical issues, such as the need to replace a bulb, high temperatures and more, to ensure users they can present seamlessly.

USB Connectivity and PC-Free Presentations

The PowerLite 1705c and 1715c feature a USB 2.0 Type B port that enables presenters to plug their computers directly into the projector and actually run presentations using nothing but a standard USB cable. This benefits presenters by not only providing yet another simple and ubiquitous form of connectivity, but can be used concurrently with the VGA input, allowing two computers to be connected to one projector at the same time. The same port can also accommodate USB memory devices for PC-free presenting and can project images from larger storage devices such as the Epson P-4000(TM) Multimedia Photo Viewer, Apple's iPod(TM) and many others.

3LCD Technology and Advanced Color Control

Many of today's presenters, photographers and other imaging professionals look to 3LCD technology to meet their specific display needs, including natural color and bright, vibrant images. 3LCD technology provides true-to-life image quality using a solid-state optical engine that works without a moving color wheel, delivering accurate color registration, and detailed video and data images that are crisp and rainbow-free. The PowerLite 1700c, 1705c, 1710c, and 1715c allow users to adjust each color's hue and saturation from six different axes, giving users total control over the look and feel of their images.

Other Unique Benefits
o "Presenter View": Allows users to project a PowerPoint slide on the
screen in "slideshow" mode, while simultaneously viewing presentation
notes and operating buttons on the monitor; ideal for delivering
detailed and complicated presentations that require the presenter to
review notes separately from the audience

o A/V Mute Slide: Creates a quick pause in the presentation to catch the
viewer's attention; these projectors will enter A/V Mute mode when the
lens cover is closed and will return to normal mode automatically upon
reopening the lens cover

o 5-Second Quick Start-Up: Allows presenters to be up and running in
only five seconds between pressing the "Power" button and the
appearance of the start-up screen

o Epson Instant Off(TM) Technology: Enables presenters to turn off,
unplug and pack up immediately and safely without a cool-down period,
saving time and reducing hassle

o Sophisticated Design: New curved, white and gray design with front
vent, rear and front infrared sensors and sub-four pound form factor
provide a slimmer, more streamlined appearance, also making them easy
to carry by hand
