Combilift Four-Directional, Long Load Handling IC Lift Trucks Introduced to North American Market

CLEVELAND, February 2003 Combilift, an Ireland based manufacturer of powered mobile equipment, has introduced its four-directional, narrow aisle lift truck to the United States, Mexico and Canada. Designed to handle long loads of pipe, tube, lumber and other long products, the vehicle will also handle pallet loads of product as a conventional reach truck in aisles as narrow as 80 in.

Depending on the product stored and existing aisle sizes space savings can be as high as 50% in the warehouse and yard.

The vehicle is available in 3 models with lift capacities to 17,000 lb. and lift heights to 23 ft. It has 3 all-wheel-drive hydrostatic wheels with cushion tires making it suitable for handling indoors or travel over semi-rough terrain outdoors.

The Combilift's four-directional steering permits forward and back movement or, when the wheels are locked at 90-degrees, permits the vehicle to travel sideways in the direction of the load. This feature provides exceptional maneuverability through rack structures inside the plant or in loading/unloading trailers in crowded yards.

The Combilift is powered either by a Volkswagen water-cooled, turbo-charged diesel or a General Motors LP gas engine. With the LP gas option, this versatile vehicle can operate indoors and out, serving the combined functions of a conventional counterbalanced forklift, a 4-way electric narrow aisle forklift, and conventional sideloader.

The retractable mast allows long loads to rest on the truck's load platform, lowering the center of gravity and providing a secure rest for products while the truck is in motion.

The Combilift is available in 3 different chassis lengths to handle a range of product dimensions and configurations:

1. 36 in. for lightweight, narrow products such as PVC extrusions.

2. 48 in. for products such as lumber, aluminum extrusions, and steel tube.

3. 55 in. for wide products such as wood panels, glass, and other products.
