GoFree(TM) Now Available on Lowrance® HDs® GEN3 and HDS GEN2 Touch

Industry Leader Adds GoFree Cloud-Based Software Update and Mapping Downloading Capabilities to Its Advanced Multifunction Displays

Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leading brand in fishing electronics since 1957 — announced today the availability of the newly launched GoFree™ Shop and wireless, cloud-enabled features on its full line of HDS® Gen3 and HDS Gen2 Touch multifunction displays.

GoFree cloud-enabled technology gives users the capability to receive automatic software update notifications and be able to download and install these updates directly, guaranteeing the most up-to-date operating system with all of the latest features. One of the most exciting new features is access to the GoFree Shop directly from the displays. With the GoFree Shop, users will have the ability to purchase, download and immediately use Insight maps, and other third-party maps from GoFree partners, directly from the home screen of an HDS Gen3 or Gen2 Touch display.

The GoFree technology also provides consumers access to the crowd-sourced INSIGHT GENESIS®. An easy-to-use, cloud-based tool, INSIGHT GENESIS allows boaters to open a free account, upload sonar logs, and download up-to-date, personalized contour maps and contribute to the community based Social Map.

“With the addition of the GoFree cloud-enabled technology on our HDS Gen3 and Gen2 Touch displays, we have changed the face of fishfinding and electronic navigation,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “Anglers can download charts and updates and upload sonar logs directly to their unit on the boat. Anglers will be able to get on their boats and go, confident that the charts and software they are using are the latest and most accurate versions, so they can catch more fish and make the most of their time on the water.”

The new HDS Gen3 comes with wireless connectivity built in and accessing the GoFree services is a simple process of linking to the local wireless or 3g service and logging into the GoFree Shop. For those with HDS Gen2, access to the GoFree services is available with a simple software upgrade and the addition of a GoFree WIFI-1 wireless module.
