PolyCore Software Further Simplifies Multicore Development with Poly-Messenger/MCAPI 2.0

BURLINGAME, Calif. -- PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI), leader in multicore development software, today announces the next generation of Poly-Messenger®/MCAPI, furthering the adoption of the Multicore Association's (MCA) Multicore Communications API (MCAPI), by version 2.0 support and bringing to the industry, next-level solutions for multicore application design.

MCAPI is defined by the MCAPI working group, chaired by PSI president and CEO, Sven Brehmer. Part of MCA's objective is to make the migration to multicore an attainable undertaking. Poly-Messenger/MCAPI 2.0 provides a flexible, tools supported, efficient, and standardized message-passing programming paradigm for closely distributed computing. With MCAPI 2.0 support, a consistent programming model is provided across different types of cores, operating systems and interconnects.

MCAPI 2.0 is a substantial upgrade to version 1.0 with the inclusion of domains, for routing purposes, configurable initialization and querying capabilities for basic topology discovery, enhanced and new functions and more consistent nomenclature. Backwards compatibility is assisted primarily through header files.

"The driving force behind much of the development for MCAPI version 2.0, has been through positive feedback from MCAPI users," said Markus Levy, president of the Multicore Association. "The Multicore Association is enthusiastic about continued Poly-Messenger MCAPI support and for its role in catalyzing the adoption of the standard."

"The multicore developer community stands to benefit from the additional functionality of MCAPI 2.0," said Sanjay Bhal, marketing manager for Texas Instruments. "Our alliance with PSI gives our customers the tools needed to quickly take advantage of MCAPI and move applications across TI's multicore DSPs, optimizing the application for a given architecture."

"I am pleased with the advancements made for MCAPI 2.0, many thanks to the MCAPI working group," said Sven Brehmer, president and CEO of PSI, "and excited about the growing MCAPI adoption and to announce Poly-Messenger's MCAPI 2.0 support."
