Multi Terrain Loaders feature turbocharged engines.

Press Release Summary:

Models 267B, 277B, and 287B are rubber-tracked machines with suspended undercarriage that transfers machine weight to ground through wheeled contact points bearing against track. They are powered by Cat 3044C DIT diesel engine with 3.3 liter displacement. Model 287B features 3,600 lb operating capacity, while Models 277B and 267B offer capacities of 2,950 lb and 2,900 lb, respectively. All employ anti-stall system and pilot hydraulic joystick controls.

Original Press Release:

Caterpillar® 267B, 277B and 287B Multi Terrain Loaders Offer More Power, Improved Performance, Comfort and Reliability

The Caterpillar 267B, 277B and 287B Multi Terrain Loaders feature new turbocharged engines with more power, higher breakout forces, redesigned operator station components, and design changes that improve reliability and serviceability. The B-Series machines replace the original models.

The Caterpillar Multi Terrain Loaders are compact, rubber-tracked machines designed for exceptional versatility, flotation, traction, stability and ride quality. The 267B, 277B and 287B combine the proven technology of the Cat Skid Steer Loader and a suspended rubber track undercarriage. The suspended undercarriage transfers machine weight to the ground through wheeled contact points bearing against the track for very low ground pressure. The undercarriage remains unchanged in the B-Series.

The three B-Series Multi Terrain Loaders are powered by the new Cat 3044C DIT diesel engine. It has 3.3 liters displacement and is direct injected and turbocharged for responsive and fuel-efficient operation. The engine boosts power by more than 18 percent in the 267B to a net of 70 horsepower (52 kW) and more than 5 percent in the 277B and 287B to a net of 78 horsepower (59 kW). All of the machines are U.S. EPA Tier 2 compliant.

The 287B is the largest of the Multi Terrain Loaders with an operating capacity of 3,600 pounds (1632 kg), when defined as 50 percent of tipping load. The rated operating capacity is up 85 pounds (39 kg) from the previous model. The 287B features vertical lift linkage for extended lift height and reach.

The 277B operating capacity is 2,950 pounds (1338 kg) and the 267B has an operating capacity of 2,900 pounds (1315 kg) at 50 percent tipping load.

B-Series comfort, reliability and serviceability improvements

The B-Series machines employ the proven anti-stall system and pilot hydraulic joystick controls that make Caterpillar Multi Terrain Loaders easy to operate. B-Series improvements include a deluxe joystick option that incorporates positive-action buttons to control work tool hydraulic or electrical functions. A slider button on the joystick operates proportional flow work tools. An ergonomically designed arm bar is rounded and sculpted to provide superior operator comfort, and the redesigned gauge panels are easy to read. The B-Series cab offers a new door option with 25 percent more glass that improves sight lines to the working area. The new door also incorporates a new loader lock out function that prevents loader arm movement when he door is open. A standard convex rearview mirror gives the operator a wider view behind the machine, and the lights are now adjustable 10-degrees in any direction to suit the task and the operator's preference.

The improved B-Series hydraulic system design reduces the number of potential leak points and improves reliability and cleanliness. A 5-micron spin-on filter keeps hydraulic
oil clean, and a high-efficiency hydraulic oil cooler allows the machines to work smoothly in high ambient temperatures.

Ease of service is designed into each B-Series machine. The rear service door opens 90 degrees for easy access to both sides of the in-line-mounted engine. The loader is configured for straightforward access to the oil filter and air cleaner as well as fluid level check points. The cooling fan and air conditioning compressor are hydraulically driven to eliminate maintenance required by belt drives. A higher alternator rating and battery rating improve reliability, as does a simplified wiring harness. For access to hydraulic pumps, motors and valves, an individual can tilt the cab rearward by using a single tool. A self-latching mechanism holds the cab in place. Extended life coolant and 500-hour engine oil change intervals further reduce maintenance.

With five different Cat B-Series Multi Terrain Loaders to choose from, selecting the nrght machine for the job is made easier by consulting the local Caterpillar dealer or by using the Build and Quote application on-line. Both the Cat dealer web site and www.cat.com offer Build and Quote, which enables the customer to configure features for his requirements, review MSRP and request a custom quote from the local dealer.
