Multi-Purpose Inclinometers offer analog and digital outputs.

Press Release Summary:

IP68 rated ACCELENS inclinometers are available in 2-axis versions that measure angular displacements of up to ±80º in both axes and single axis models with range of 0-360º. Analog outputs are between 4-20 mA and 0.5-4.5 V. Digital output via RS232 interface facilitates programming device parameters such as zero-offset, reporting mode, reporting rate, and baud rate. Featuring molded polyurethane enclosure, inclinometers can withstand 30 g shock and 5 g vibration.

Low-Cost Multi-Purpose Inclinometers from Posital

Hamilton, New Jersey, October 2009. POSITAL has introduced ACCELENS (ACS), a new line of low-cost inclinometers that provide both analog and digital outputs. These versatile devices are available in a wide range of configurations designed to satisfy almost any requirements. Two-axis versions measure angular displacements of up to ±80º in both axes, while single axis models have a range of 0-360º and can be used as replacements for single-turn potentiometers or rotary encoders. Both versions are compact and easy to install. Unique factory calibration ensures accuracy and linearity of ±0.15º over their entire range.

The electronic interface for these units provides a combination of digital and analog outputs. Analog outputs - either current (4-20 mA) or voltage (0.5-4.5 V) - make it easy to use these inclinometers with simple analog control systems. ACS inclinometers can also provide digital output via an RS232 interface. The RS232 interface also makes it easy to program device parameters such as zero-offset, reporting mode (continuous or polled), reporting rate and baud rate. These devices can even be configured as limit switches which will send a signal when a user-selected tilt angle has been detected! For larger-scale system, ACS inclinometers are available with a CANopen certified interface.

These devices are suitable for use in harsh conditions, boasting an IP68 (NEMA 6) rating. Applications include solar power (sun-tracking) and mobile equipment including cranes/lifts and drilling/mining. Their moulded polyurethane enclosure provides excellent dust- and moisture-resistance, while their rugged internal components can withstand shock loads of up to 30 g and vibrations as high as 5g. The inclinometer output is temperature compensated to ensure accurate signals in any environment.

About POSITAL
POSITAL is a business unit of FRABA Inc., the North American sister company of FRABA GmbH, a highly specialized manufacturer of sensors for automation, motion control and safety applications based in Cologne, Germany. The company belongs to the FRABA Group which dates back to 1918, when its predecessor, Franz Baumgartner elektrische Apparate GmbH, was established to manufacture relays. Today, the group consists of six independent companies that develop and produce advanced industrial sensor technology and safety equipment.

As a Rockwell Automation Encompass Partner, FRABA will be exhibiting its POSITAL inclinometers and INTACTON non-contact encoders at Rockwell's Automation Fair, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, California, November 11th to 12th. See us at Booth 226!
